Electrolysis (Cl/H2O2-product)

Current can flow between an anode (positive) and a cathode (negative) in an electrolyte such as seawater. Depending on the system certain gases can be produced; chlorine or hydrogen are both possibilities. Chlorine and hydrogen peroxide are antimicrobial and hydrogen gas may simply work by forming a barrier of gas bubbles. Local pH changes can also be achieved.
